I. Overview of the Graduate Student Union:


The Graduate Student Union of College of Architecture and Landscape of Peking University (referred to as the “CALA Graduate Student Union”) serves as a vital bridge connecting the School with its graduate students. Upholding the core principles of “serving peers, uniting strength, enriching campus life, and fostering growth,” the Union focuses its efforts on four key dimensions: academic exchange, career planning, cultural and sports activities, and publicity and promotion. The Association is committed to building diverse development platforms, enriching campus experiences for faculty and students, preserving the School's academic spirit and cultural heritage, and empowering every landscape architecture student to gain value and a sense of belonging through academic exploration, career discovery, and personal growth.


The Association operates through four specialized departments, each with distinct responsibilities yet working in coordinated synergy to advance its initiatives:

Academic Department: Focuses on cultivating an academic ecosystem and establishing high-level exchange platforms

Publicity Department: Oversees brand image development, coordinating promotional campaigns and cultural dissemination

Career Development Department: Supports professional planning and provides targeted employment services

Activities Department: Leads the planning of cultural and sports events to enrich campus life


II. Departmental Responsibilities and Brand Activities


  • Academic Department:


Core Responsibilities:


Focus on academic exchange and knowledge dissemination, connect with the college's faculty resources and scientific research resources, design and organize various academic lectures, experience-sharing sessions and practical research activities, build an academic communication bridge across grades and fields, and foster a rigorous yet vibrant academic atmosphere in the college; meanwhile, liaison with the Academic and Technological Innovation Department of the Peking University Youth League Committee, promptly disseminate information on various academic activities of the university, undertake affairs related to the "Challenge Cup" series of competitions, and coordinate the organization of competitions, registration promotion, and materials submission.

Featured Activities:


"Master's Forum" Series Lectures: Inviting top-tier experts and scholars worldwide (including members of the US National Academy of Sciences, Fellows of the UK Royal Academy of Engineering, etc.) to share in-depth perspectives on frontier issues like climate change, sustainable development, and water resource management, thus building a high-standard hub for academic exchange.

PhD Experience Sharing Sessions: Outstanding doctoral students are invited to share core insights on school application, scholarship pursuit, research direction selection, and career planning, offering targeted academic guidance to junior students.

Academic Practice Research: Supporting teams such as "Distant Rural Primary Schools" in conducting practical activities like rural campus surveys, facilitating the integration of academic theories with real-world applications.

Challenge Cup Briefings: Co-hosted with the Academic and Technological Innovation Department of the Peking University Youth League Committee, these sessions introduce Peking University's distinctive academic event — the "Challenge Cup" series competitions, and invite past winning teams to share their award-winning experiences.


  •  Publicity Department


Core Responsibilities:


It is responsible for the promotion and brand building of various activities of the Postgraduate Student Union and the college, oversees the operation of official platforms, visual design and cultural curation. It disseminates the college's updates and the Union's voices, and shapes a professional and aesthetic college image.

Featured Activities:


Operation of the "Yanyuan Landscape People" WeChat Official Account: Undertakes core tasks such as typesetting of push articles and content publication, covering diverse content including academic updates, event previews, and employment information. It has produced over 70 original pieces of content, with the highest single-article read count exceeding 80,000.

Visual Design Services: Creates thematic posters for the 24 Solar Terms and festival greetings, as well as main visual and backdrop designs for large-scale events such as opening ceremonies and graduation ceremonies, balancing aesthetics and communicability.

Cultural Curation Projects: Plans and organizes activities including Art Weeks, academic forums, and artists' works exhibitions, such as the "Yijie Rongtan (Art World Integration Forum) Art Week" and the Tang Liang Art Exhibition, enriching the campus cultural scene.

Huaiyin Film Talk Screening Session: Selects high-quality documentaries such as Hubbub of Many Voices and The Rice Road, and combines them with post-screening discussion sessions to broaden academic horizons and enrich cultural experiences.

Winter Reading Month: Organizes multi-themed book sharing sessions covering diverse books including academic works and humanistic classics, promoting the collision of ideas and cultural accumulation among students.


  • Career Development Department


Core responsibilities


Focus on students’ career development needs by building an employment service platform that connects universities with enterprises and engages alumni. Through experience sharing, simulated practice, and company visits, help students clarify their career goals and enhance their job-seeking skills.

Featured Activities:


“Career Belongs to You” Job-Hunting Sharing Series: Featuring themed sessions such as civil service selection, internet industry, and cross-disciplinary careers. Outstanding alumni and corporate HR representatives are invited to share job-hunting experiences and industry insights, covering diverse career paths including targeted selection, internet employment, and cross-sector development.

Face-to-Face with Enterprises: In collaboration with well-known companies such as Longfor Group, HR talks and career presentations are held to create a direct communication bridge between students and employers, delivering the latest recruitment information and industry trends.

Job Application Simulation and Guidance: Organize hands-on workshops on resume optimization and interview skills to provide students with targeted and practical job-hunting guidance.

Company Visit Program: Partner with leading enterprises to organize on-site visits, helping students gain a direct understanding of industry operations and workplace environments.


  • Activities Department


Core Responsibilities: Coordinate the planning and execution of the college's cultural and sports events, social gatherings, and major ceremonial activities. Ensure these events balance entertainment, participation, and commemorative value to enrich students' campus life and strengthen collective cohesion.

Brand Events


Grand Ceremonial Events: Plan and execute landmark events such as opening ceremonies, graduation ceremonies, and welcome parties. These include segments like dean's addresses, messages from faculty and students, performance showcases, and group interactions, creating campus memories that blend solemnity with warmth.

Cultural & Sports Competitions: Host signature events like the “Winter of Wisdom” board game tournament and annual recreational badminton tournament, blending mental challenges with physical exercise to enrich extracurricular life.

Social & Experiential Activities: Collaborate with other colleges and universities for diverse networking events, organize specialty programs like coffee workshops and mindfulness empowerment sessions to broaden social circles and alleviate academic stress.

Creative Interactive Events: Launch innovative initiatives like the “Limited Edition Photo Drift” project, using disposable film cameras to capture fleeting encounters among students and foster a warm collective atmosphere.
