Ma Ruiqu, Associate Professor and Master's Supervisor at the School of Architecture and Planning, Yunnan University, holds a PhD from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research focuses on highland mountainous human settlements, socio-ecological systems, and smart city development. He has led a National Natural Science Foundation of China Young Scientist Project and multiple provincial/ministerial-level research initiatives. As first or corresponding author, he has published numerous papers in international journals including Cities and Telematics and Informatics. As a key contributor (4th/11th author), he participated in a project awarded the Second Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress by Yunnan Province. From September 2025 to June 2026, he undertook a visiting scholar position at  College of Architecture and Landscape ,Peking University, collaborating with Professor Wang Fang.
