Detailed Rules for the 2025 Exempted Admission Recommendation of Master's Degree Students, College of Architecture and Landscape, Peking University


If the content of this explanation conflicts with the spirit of relevant national enrollment documents or the admission brochure published by the university's Graduate School, the spirit of the superior documents shall prevail.

In 2025, the College of Architecture and Landscape will continue to enroll full-time Master of Science in Landscape Architecture (MSLA) and full-time Master of Landscape Architecture (FMLA) students through the recommended exemption method.

The specific application conditions and methods for the recommended exemption process are announced as follows:

Note: Accommodation is not provided for professional degree students.

If candidates are interested in both Geography (Landscape Design) and Master of Landscape Architecture, they can submit applications for both majors simultaneously in the application module of the Peking University Graduate Admissions Website, and submit two copies of the "Peking University 2025 Application Form for Recommended Exemption for Postgraduate Study". Only one copy of other materials is required.


II. Eligibility Criteria for Recommendation Without Examination


1. Support the leadership of the Communist Party of China, demonstrate good moral character, and abide by laws and regulations;

2. Have obtained recommendation for exemption from examination from your institution;

3. Achieve a minimum score of 426 (inclusive) on the College English Test Band 6 (CET-6), or equivalent scores on the TOEFL, IELTS, or GRE.


III. Application Procedures and Process


1. Online Application via Peking University Graduate Admissions Portal

September 10, 2024, 10:00 AM – September 14, 2024, 4:00 PM: Peking University Graduate Admissions Portal (https://admission.pku.edu.cn/) will open online applications for the 2025 Recommended Exemption Program. Applicants may submit their preferences through the “Online Application” module.


2. Application Materials

Both hardcopy and electronic materials are required for this application cycle.

Hardcopy Materials:

(1) One completed Peking University Application Form for 2025 Recommended Graduate Admission;

(2) One copy of the Peking University 2025 Personal Statement for Recommended Graduate Admission;

(3) Two letters of recommendation for Peking University 2025 Recommended Graduate Admission. Each letter must be signed by a separate expert (Associate Professor or higher academic rank, or equivalent professional title) in the applicant's field of study. Letters must be sealed in separate envelopes with signatures across the seal;

(4) One copy of undergraduate transcripts, stamped with the official seal of the applicant's university's Academic Affairs Office or a dedicated transcript verification seal. Place the sealed transcript in a self-provided envelope and affix the Academic Affairs Office seal or dedicated transcript verification seal across the seal;

(5) One set of copies of award certificates;

(6) One copy of foreign language proficiency certification.


Items (1), (2), and (3) above must be downloaded and printed from the Peking University Graduate Admissions website after the applicant submits their application.


Additionally, applicants may submit representative academic papers, publications, or original research achievements demonstrating their academic capabilities. Peking University students applying for graduate programs within their own department may submit only items (1), (2), and (6). Applicants from other universities or different departments within Peking University must submit all the above materials to the graduate admissions office of their target department. Applicants must ensure the authenticity and accuracy of all submitted information and materials. (6). Applicants from other universities or those applying across departments within Peking University must submit all application materials listed above to the Graduate Affairs Office of the admitting department. Applicants must guarantee the authenticity and accuracy of all submitted application information and materials. If an applicant provides false information, submits fraudulent application materials, commits examination misconduct, or violates other examination regulations, the university will impose severe penalties in accordance with the Ministry of Education's “Measures for Handling Violations in National Education Examinations” and revoke the applicant's admission status.

By 4:00 PM on September 17, 2024, applicants must place all completed application materials (uniformly printed on A4 paper) into a self-prepared envelope and mail (or deliver) them directly to the Graduate Affairs Office (Room 512) of the School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture, Peking University. Please use SF Express or EMS whenever possible and monitor the delivery status. Peking University students may deliver materials in person.

Scan all physical materials listed above (1), (2), (4), (5), (6), along with any additional documents you believe demonstrate your academic proficiency. Compile them into a single PDF file in the specified order. Submit this file to 发送电子版到pkucala2024@163.com by 5:00 PM on September 16, 2024. Ensure the attachment size does not exceed 30MB. File and attachment naming convention: “Full Name + Undergraduate Institution Name + Application Materials for Recommendation for Exemption from Entrance Examinations.”

For the above Paper Materials (1), (2), (4), (5), (6), and any other materials that you believe demonstrate your academic level, please scan and compile them in order into a single PDF file. 3. Registration via the Ministry of Education's Recommendation for Exemption from Entrance Examinations Service System

The Ministry of Education's “National Recommendation for Exemption from Entrance Examinations for Graduate Studies Information Disclosure and Management Service System” (hereinafter referred to as the “Recommendation Service System”), accessible at http://yz.chsi.com.cn/tm, serves as the unified information filing and disclosure platform and online application/admission system for recommendation for exemption from entrance examinations. Applicants must obtain recommendation eligibility from their home institution (as verified by the list of recommended candidates submitted to the Ministry of Education's system). Applicants must register and complete the following steps in the system according to Ministry and departmental requirements:

- Complete online registration

- Upload electronic photo

- Pay application fee online

- Submit application preferences

- Confirm interview participation

- Accept conditional admission offer


IV. Preliminary Review and Interview


1. After preliminary review of application materials by our college's selection panel, re-examination guidelines and candidate lists will be promptly published on the college website. Please monitor the website and ensure your phone is accessible.

2. Applicants must arrive at the designated location on time for on-site re-examination as required by our college. Specific interview formats will be notified to candidates in advance.

3. The re-examination will be conducted with a competitive ratio of 200%, and candidates will be selected based on merit.

4. Re-examination scores will be calculated on a 100-point scale, with a passing score of 60. Candidates failing the re-examination will not be admitted.

5. Each applicant who passes the preliminary review will undergo a comprehensive interview lasting no less than 20 minutes. The entire interview process will be audio and video recorded.

6. Departments will conduct ideological and moral assessments of candidates during the re-examination and admission process based on the principle of seeking truth from facts. Key evaluation areas include political stance, ideological performance, moral character, compliance with laws and regulations, and integrity. Candidates failing the ideological and moral assessment will not be admitted.


V. Conditional Admission and Public Notice


1. Based on re-examination results, our institute will determine a provisional admission list by merit. Applicants who pass the departmental re-examination and obtain provisional admission eligibility from our university but fail to secure recommendation qualifications from their original institutions will have their provisional admission status revoked.

2. Our institute will send provisional admission notifications to selected applicants via the Ministry of Education's Recommendation Service System. Applicants must confirm acceptance online within the designated timeframe. Failure to confirm within the specified period will be deemed as forfeiture.

3. Departments will complete online public disclosure of the preliminary admission list by October 20, 2024. Applicants may log in to departmental websites or the Graduate Admissions Portal to view the list. Queries may be submitted to the department during the disclosure period.

4. Students admitted through recommendation exemption may not register for the national postgraduate entrance examination in the same year; doing so will result in revocation of their admission status.


VI. Qualification Review and Final Admission


Prior to issuing admission notices, the university will conduct eligibility reviews for recommended students with provisional admission status according to the following requirements. Those failing the review will have their admission revoked.

1. Complete all coursework and practical components (including graduation thesis or internship) required by the undergraduate curriculum;

2. Achieve a grade of “Good” or 80 points and above for the graduation thesis or design project;

3. After obtaining recommended admission status, no undergraduate required courses may be failed;

4. No record of disciplinary violations or penalties from the date of admission qualification to the enrollment registration date.

Admitted students must present original copies of their ID card, academic degree certificates, and graduation certificates to the admitting department for verification on the enrollment registration day. Failure to obtain the bachelor's degree and undergraduate graduation certificate before enrollment registration will result in revocation of admission status.
