Announcement of the Farewell Ceremony for Professor Yu Kongjian

Yu Kongjian, an outstanding member of the Communist Party of China, founding Dean of the School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture at Peking University, Peking University Peking University Distinguished Professor, distinguished international landscape architect and educator, founder and chief designer of Turen Design, tragically passed away at the age of 62 in a plane crash on 23 September 2025 local time while conducting ecological research in the Pantanal region of Brazil.

To pay profound tribute to Professor Yu Kongjian and commemorate his outstanding contributions to the ecological civilisation and landscape design endeavours of Beautiful China and the wider world, a farewell ceremony for Professor Yu Kongjian will be held on 18 October 2025.

I. Arrangements for the Farewell Ceremony

Date: 18 October 2025 (Saturday)

Time: 9:00 am – 11:00 am

Venue: East Hall, Babaoshan Funeral Hall, Beijing (No. 9 Shijingshan Road, Shijingshan District, Beijing).

Attendees are requested to make their own way to the venue. Public transport: Alight at Babaoshan Station (Metro or Bus). Vehicles may be parked at the West Fourth Gate car park (or Langyuan car park opposite).

Format: In-person condolences. A commemorative video will be screened, and exhibits detailing Professor Yu Kongjian's life will be displayed.

Kindly note: Wildflowers and fresh blooms will be provided on-site. Attendees need not bring wreaths, mourning couplets, or other condolence items. Monetary gifts are not accepted. All attendees are requested to dress solemnly and follow the guidance of on-site staff.

II. Registration for the Farewell Ceremony

Attendees from all walks of life are required to scan the QR code below in advance to register, enabling us to provide enhanced on-site services (no QR code is required for entry).

III. Online Memorial Section

An online memorial section has now been established to receive written tributes, photographs, and audio-visual materials from friends and colleagues wishing to commemorate Professor Yu.
