I met Professor Yu Kongjian on my first trip to China, in the summerof 2010, on a university exchange program.
attended his class and discovered a new way of understanding thePlanet: through attentive and humble observation of nature. Thatsame afternoon,l visited Turenscape. We discussed the BrazilianSemi-Arid region.l began studying the projects of this center ofideas, decisions, and transformative actions in China.
I saw him again five days before his death, in S¤o Paulo, Brasil.
He was very excited because he was going to visit the Pantanal, oneof the last sponge-like strongholds on the planet. Where waterspenetrate the ground, absorbed by drought, after having nourisheda rich living cover. The latency of apparent death. The regenerationof life with each cycle.
With a team of documentary filmmakers, Yu Kongjian left thistangible world, denouncing the misery of transforming our earthlyparadise into a pasture for distant foods.
We fraternally offer us to continue his plans and share his mission, inthe best way we can conceive and build.
