Carl has just told me the shocking news that Kongjian has died in Brazil. I can't believe it. My condolences to everyone, his family, you and all his Chinese colleagues.

He spoke at the IFLA conference with Mojca and through her sent me greetings to Ljubljana.

A terrible loss for everyone, including Chinese landscapes and world landscape architecture.

Since I have no contact from Ping, I ask you to convey our deepest condolences to his family.

惊闻孔坚于巴西不幸离世的噩耗，我深感震惊，至今难以置信。

这是所有人的巨大损失，更是中国景观设计乃至世界景观设计学界的巨大损失。他曾与Mojca在国际景观设计师联盟（IFLA）的大会上发言，并通过她向远在卢布尔雅那的我致以问候。

谨此向他的家人、挚友及所有中国同仁致以最沉痛的哀悼。恳请代我们向其家人转达最深切的慰问。
