My Dear Senior, you will never truly leave us. Your spirit will continue to walk with us on the landscape path ahead.

With 30 years of friendship—since we connected at Harvard GSD and later during my doctoral studies in Beijing when you encouraged and guided me—you have always been warm and steadfast, a beacon of light before me.

Through your extraordinary contributions, you transformed the field of landscape architecture: pioneering the “sponge city” vision, shaping ecological security thinking, and inspiring countless students and professionals around the world.

How should I commemorate you?

I can only bless your journey.
