Dear Colleagues,

It is with a heavy heart that I write upon the passing of my dear friend and colleague, Prof. Kongjian Yu. I still find it hard to believe that someone so full of life, vision, and care for both people and the environment has left us.

Kongjian and I were born in the same year, 1963, and our paths first crossed over twenty-five years ago at IFLA. What began as conversations about landscape architecture blossomed into enduring collaboration and, most importantly, a treasured friendship. His passion for shaping landscapes was matched only by his generosity of spirit and unwavering kindness.

Though his departure is sudden and deeply painful, his presence lingers in every green space he envisioned, every city he transformed, and every mind he inspired. Like the landscapes he cherished, his legacy will continue to grow and flourish, quietly but profoundly, touching lives for generations to come.

Rest in peace, dear Kongjian. Your spirit remains rooted in the earth and in the hearts of those who loved and admired you.
