Just a few hours ago I learned about the fatal accident of Kongjian and his film team in the Pantanal wetlands of Brazil. It is shocking and depressing, makes me so sad.

I will remember Kongjian as a charismatic visionary, combining all great virtues of an academic teacher, a great communicator and manager, artist and engineer. Rooted in the rich rural heritage of his country, he succeeded in giving faceless Chinese cities their distinct individuality. He replaced ornamental, decorative gardening by green-blue creations fit for urban climate change adaptation which is desparately in need all around the globe.

For me, Yu Kongjian represents one of the outstanding, truly revolutionary personalities of New China. I am grateful having made his acquaintance.

Kongjian leaves a great heritage and I am sure, the turen team will build on it with further contributions for a new global society.

在我的记忆中，孔坚是一位富有魅力的远见者，他集学术导师、杰出的沟通者与管理者、艺术家和工程师等所有伟大品德于一身。他扎根于深厚的乡村文化底蕴，成功地赋予了那些千城一面的中国城市独特的个性。他用适应城市气候变化的绿色和蓝色空间，取代了那些仅仅用于装饰的园艺景观，而这种景观在全球范围内都迫切需要。

对我而言，俞孔坚是新时代中国杰出的、真正具有革命性的人物之一。我深感荣幸能与他相识。

孔坚留下了一份宏伟的遗产，我相信，“土人”团队定将在此基础上继续前行，为新的全球化社会做出更多贡献。
