During a time of self-doubt about my ability to pursue a PhD, thank you for giving me the confidence to go forward. Most importantly, you made my background in anthropology something I was proud of you, you told me that studying societies was the root to understanding urban planning. Your work on feng shui and urban planning was really incredible. I will always treasure the book/paper you gave me. Although I did not end up studying with you, you gave me so much confidence going forward. Most of all, you are someone I really look up to. The work you have done as an academic, but also your work in Turenscape. Thank you for showing me that in this world, you can do both, that being an academic does not come at the cost of being a businessman, but most importantly, that academia can be used to do good in the world. I used to think all academics are just armchair theorists, but you truly are not. You were in the field, transforming the field and shaping the field. I hope one day I can be half the person you are. Rest in peace, and I hope we will continue to carry on your passions and legacies.
