Kongjian Yu profoundly shaped our efforts to confront Mexico’s environmental and water crises, grounding our work in science and a deep appreciation of history. Throughout his life, he embodied brilliance, integrity, and an extraordinary connection to both the environment and his ancestral roots.
We were deeply honoured to build a friendship with him following his visit to Mexico in 2019. During that visit, we created a digital library of his work, translated his books, and engaged in ongoing dialogue with him — receiving invaluable guidance and recommendations that strengthened our initiatives to restore and protect Mexico’s water bodies.
His passing is a profound loss for all who strive for a more sustainable world. Yet we are committed to honouring his life’s work, dedication, and vision by carrying his legacy forward, advancing solutions to the global environmental crisis, and fostering hope for a sustainable and resilient future.
