We are deeply saddened to share that Professor Kongjian Yu, a leading figure in landscape architecture, passed away following an aircraft accident on September 23, 2025, in Brazil. The DLA community—faculty, staff, and students—extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and students. A close friend of DLA, Professor Yu visited or met us on numerous occasions and generously supported our education and research. His built works and scholarship have shaped our teaching and learning over the past decade, and his influence will endure.

Prof. Yu is survived by his beloved family, by generations of students, by his constructed projects and published writings. His passing is a profound loss to the fields of landscape architecture, urban planning, and sustainable development. We will honor his memory by carrying forward his unfinished mission: to create a more resilient, healthy, and biodiverse planet for current and future generations.
