"My name is Camila, and I'm an English teacher in Brazil, as well as an environmental activist working with community composting and the preservation of green areas around rivers and public spaces in São Paulo.
We were honored to have Professor Yu in Brazil, sharing his knowledge and perspectives. His visit was deeply inspiring for all of us. We had the chance to see him exchange ideas and observe our city in a different light—especially his innovative approaches to solving our water issues.
The Pantanal is one of the most incredible places I’ve ever been. Life is everywhere—every animal, insect, and living being is deeply connected, also to the seasons and to how water behaves at each moment.
Professor Yu’s words will never be forgotten. We are tremendously sorry for his passing and saddened that it happened here in Brazil. Professor Yu was truly an angel on Earth—and for the Earth. May his lessons always serve as a blessed path toward healing our planet.
The attached photo shows our group at Córrego Água Branca (Água Branca Stream) in Barra Funda, São Paulo, Brazil. Just like Professor Yu, we are working together to improve the soil quality for trees so that the green areas along the stream can regenerate and help alleviate flooding in the area.
Thank you, Professor Yu, for your inspiration and invaluable lessons. A true master never dies.
Sending my condolences and love to his family, colleagues, and students.
Camila Ferraz and Grupo Colaborativo do Córrego Água Branca - São Paulo, Brazil"
